Illegal Immigration's Impact on Trucking: Economic Struggles, Exploitation, and Industry Challenges
How is illegal immigration reshaping the American trucking industry, and at what cost to legal citizens and immigrants? Join me, Walter Gatlin, as I confront the harsh realities facing truckers in today's political landscape. I share my own frustrations and bring to light the economic struggles impacting drivers across the nation. One story that stands out is about a black woman who sold her food truck to an illegal immigrant merely to make ends meet, raising questions about the fairness and effectiveness of our political system.
We also delve into the exploitation within the trucking industry, where some companies prey on vulnerable immigrants and American drivers with unfair contracts, resulting in drastically reduced earnings. Our conversation expands to broader issues of government mismanagement, including the controversial allocation of funds to illegal immigrants while many hardworking citizens are left struggling. Additionally, we discuss the challenges posed by immigrant truck drivers unfamiliar with U.S. regulations and the pressing need for improved communication and oversight. To end on a high note, we honor Red Simpson, a revered figure in trucking music, celebrating his lasting impact on the industry through his unforgettable songs.

Welcome to Rolling 18 Podcast. This 40-year veteran is here for anyone wanting to stay up to date in the trucking world. Grab your coffee, hop on board and let's get on down the road with Walter Gatlin.
Speaker 2:Hello drivers and welcome to Rolling 18 Podcast. I'm your host, walter Gatlin, in the beautiful state of Iowa. If I sound a little upset today on this podcast, it's because I am. Politics is really biting people hard. I try to stay out of it because you know I'm in a trucker podcast.
Speaker 2:I like to tell people about things about trucking and I believe this particular story is linked directly to trucking Because I've asked people throughout the years what their biggest three problems were out on the road. And of course, it has to do with parking. It has to do with, you know, being able to afford certain things rates on the loads, I mean. There's a list about 10 long, 20 long. But the one thing that really catches my eye, especially in my ear during this election period, is the fact that so many people are complaining that there's so many foreigners out there driving on the road.
Speaker 2:Now look, I understand the difference between legal immigration and illegal immigration. Politicians left, right, center doesn't make any difference. Their main job is to get reelected, so they're going to say whatever their constituents want. I'm not up for election. I don't care about politics. I do vote, but I don't care to tell you who I'm voting for or to have you tell me who you're voting for None of that matters to me, you who I'm voting for or to have you tell me who you're voting for. None of that matters to me. I'm going to expect people to base their decisions on logic and what's happening to them in their personal lives, especially with the top three issues, which is, economic issues, illegal immigration issues and issues that have to do personally deep within themselves. Pick one, two, three it doesn't make any difference, just pick whichever one you want. Those are the issues that people are going to worry about the most, because when you have to go to the store and spend all the rest of every ounce of your money on food in order to survive, and maybe even skip a few medications or one or two other bills in order to buy food for your family, that's crazy, it's nuts.
Speaker 2:But I came across this story and it's all over the internet. All you have to do is type in black woman has to sell her food truck to an illegal immigrant. Okay, that's exactly what happened, and the fact that it was a black woman makes it more noticeable, because I honestly believe that black folks in Democrat-run areas are the ones hurt the most by the Democrat Party. They say they're protected by the Democrat Party. The Democrat Party swears up and down. They protect them, but it seems like all of these shenanigans happen in Democrat cities. Now I'm not going to say one way or the other because I'm an independent and I don't want to get your feathers in an uproar, but this story is directly related to my story because it's almost identical.
Speaker 2:Now this woman tried to get a $20,000, $25,000 loan so she could stay afloat. Everybody denied her Okay. So no, clearly there's one politician or another politician that's not looking out for their constituents. But either way she goes out. She tries to get a loan several different avenues finally realizes that if she does not sell the food truck, she is going to go under and go bankrupt and rather than have that happen to her and her record, she decides to go ahead and just sell the food truck, get out from underneath it, pay off you know whatever bills she may have left, and then just start from scratch doing something else. What choice does this woman have? So she goes to sell it, she puts it out on the whatever social media site, she puts it out on for sale and who and behold, comes up to buy her truck, but an illegal immigrant, with a letter from the federal government saying they will guarantee the money.
Speaker 2:So I started doing some research and I started and this is several weeks ago that I started doing this research even prior to this story I believe. I don't know if they came out at the same time or not, but it's amazing how this story came out about the same time I was doing research on the illegal immigrants that are driving semi and getting help from the United States federal government, because they sit there and say they're paying for their education, they're paying for their, their hospitalization, they're paying for their food, their rent. So I wanted to go deep and see are some of these illegal immigrants driving semi, and are they allowed to drive semi and come to find out? Yes, they are, and they are also buying trucks with government money, which is your tax dollars, by the way. They are literally buying trucks, paying fees, getting started in the trucking business with your tax dollars, the money that you've earned.
Speaker 2:These are illegal immigrants, ladies and gentlemen, not legal immigrants, not the ones that came in here and did things legally, not the ones that came into the United States and decided to go through every single hoop the United States has for legal immigrants because they have to have background checks. No, these are the ones that crossed the river. These are the ones that came in and snuck in through the night. These are the ones that paid thousands of dollars to mules to move them across and, for one reason or another, didn't get kidnapped and sex traded like some of them, but were let go and were told to pay them certain amounts of money when they got here with the money that they earned. This woman if you look up black American woman has to sell her food truck to migrants. You'll find out that that money was given to them to purchase her food truck by the United States government.
Speaker 2:Now, and the research I've done and I'm not going to quote anybody because I don't care one way or another you can do your own research I have people that I talk to who want to remain anonymous and you can understand that this day and age and you can believe me or not, believe me, I don't care. Either way, I'm not making any assumptions. I'm telling you. What I am being told is that, yes, these illegal immigrants, if they come here and they've had experience with with truck driving they can go out and look for a used semi and the United States government will pay for it. They will pay the fees to get it licensed. They will pay the fees for the first few months or six months to get it insured. They will pay the fees to get uh, whatever license they need to go independent or to help them lease on to a company.
Speaker 2:Now, ladies and gentlemen, this crap has to stop, because, being a truck driver as long as I have, I've never had anybody hand me any type of money whatsoever, especially my own tax dollars back to me and say here you go, we're going to give you a hand up and we're going to help you through this, you know, through the tough times of 2008, the tough times in the late 90s, the tough times in the late 80s Nobody ever came to me and offered to do that for me. And to have the United States government hand people money who aren't even supposed to be here legally, which means there is a federal law against it. But to have the government ignore federal laws and allow so many thousands, if not millions, of these people in this country and then start paying for their livelihood for them to get started, for them to get a jumpstart ahead of the United States government's own citizens, people out there struggling every single day to make ends meet. And I know for a fact that most brokers out there are good people. But there are some brokers out there taking advantage of these illegals and the illegals by ripping them off with their broker fees.
Speaker 2:Same thing with companies. Most of the companies out there that lease on owner-operators do the right thing, but they find a vulnerable or gullible illegal immigrant or even legal immigrant, somebody that can't speak that good of English. They will have them sign paperwork. They won't even have them read it and they will screw them until there's no end. And there are even Americans, regular Americans like you and I, that are signing on with certain truck companies that are leasing people trucks, promising them the moon and taking out so many fees. They barely get $200 to $500 a week when they're done gouging them. This is all illegal and I bet if most of this was brought to the forefront of any district attorney that has any compassion for his or her own oath, they would take that company, lock the doors and throw the owners in prison, probably for the rest of their lives, for screwing over so many people.
Speaker 2:But we have to get to the bottom of it. Black people are much smarter than the Democrat Party are giving them credit for, and they have been using the black folk for years and years and years. And I'm so happy to see the black folks starting to wake up and realize this, because I don't mind people getting a hand up, but I certainly don't want them getting a hand out. I don't want them to be coddled and taken care of for the rest of their life when they didn't earn it, just like any of you folks out there that work for a living. You don't want that. You don't want our tax dollars being spent unwisely, and that's exactly what is happening. The government is literally paying for all kinds of things, including up into buying illegal immigrants full used semis and then stating on there that it is a grant or it is a loan and that loan technically does not have to be paid back. So there's a money operation, a Ponzi scheme, going on by the United States government in more than one way, and it doesn't matter if you're left or right. They're screwing us all. We're already almost $37 trillion in debt. We don't need that, and I certainly hate talking about politics. I really don't like talking about politics.
Speaker 2:But, ladies and gentlemen, this is now starting to saturate the trucking industry. A lot of people are complaining there's way too many foreigners driving truck and they don't know how to abide by the rules of the road. They don't abide by the ethics in a truck stop, they don't abide by the parking rules. They don't abide by a lot of things, and that's partly because they're ignorant of our laws. They don't speak English. They can't be explained well how to do things in the trucking industry in America. We all have to be on the same page when it comes to this and we have to be cordial about it. But we also have to recognize it is a problem, and just merely talking about it does not mean you're a racist. What it means is that you want to be involved in an industry that is on the same page. That's all that means.
Speaker 2:Now there's a lady by the name of VoodooDollTV and she reacted on this. She posted this about a day ago. It's called Black American Woman has to Sell Her Food Truck to Migrants. Celebrities Are Paid to Whatever Paid to Mislead Us, and then she has the hashtag Black America. I'm going to put the link down below and I want you guys to watch this because it's factual, and I don't think this gal Voodoo Doll TV wants to start trouble with the white population.
Speaker 2:I don't believe she wants to segregate us from them. I believe she wants to tell the truth and I don't know what political affiliation she is, and I don't believe she wants to segregate us from them. I believe she wants to tell the truth and I don't know what political affiliation she is and I don't care. I'm just glad she's standing up for what's right and she's also standing up for this black woman that literally had to sell her food truck in order to pay off her bills, because nobody in God's creation, especially the Democrats, would hand this poor woman or loan this poor woman $20,000 or $25,000. When they spend that every tenth of a second, they hand that to illegals.
Speaker 2:I don't know exactly how to put that, but that's exactly how I'm putting it. They spend hundreds of millions, if not over a billion dollars already on illegal immigrants and they're just dumping money into their lap left and right, and you cannot help this woman out with twenty, twenty five thousand dollars. If I had the money, I'd have given it to her and I'd let her keep her food, even if I heard about this before she actually sold it. I would have just given her the money, because I would rather see a hard-working american man or woman try to make it on their own and do well, especially during the times where the United States government is ripping off everybody and they're just spending money like it just grows on trees because they can, I guess, because they print it. But, like I said, I don't want this to be a podcast about politics, but I do know that one of our top issues out there on the road today is immigrants illegal immigrants and illegal immigrants from other countries driving truck in our country and not learning our laws and our ways of doing things. And we have to try and figure out a way to communicate these issues to DOT and everybody else, because it affects us greatly.
Speaker 2:Click on the link down below and listen to this video, because I'm telling you, watch this video. It's very important that we understand what's going on here. Okay, very, very important. Now, another thing I want to talk about was Red Simpson. Red Simpson passed away. I believe it was 2016. Yeah, he died on January 8th of 2016. I'm going to put another link down below, because Red Simpson he done Nitro Express. He did a lot of trucking songs and stuff. Here's a small smidgen of his music, but I guarantee you, when I put it on YouTube, they're going to block it out Because they're just that pansy. I'm just playing a clip YouTube, that's it, because I want them to hear a little bit. I'm not going to play the whole song, but YouTube gets bent out of shape when you try and play just a little bit of the music.
Speaker 1:Well, I was pulling up a grade that's known as the Devil's Press.
Speaker 2:All in 36 ton. That song is called the Nitro Express and I'm really pleased with it. I listen to a lot of Red Simpsons music. His last album he put up, I believe, was called Soda Pops and Saturdays that's what it was and he put this album out just a short while before he passed away. But the reason I'm putting the link to my kind of country radio is Red Simpson was interviewed by this gentleman His final interview on January 8, 2016,. Just hours before he passed away and he had been ill. He was a great man, a great country.
Speaker 2:If you go to Wikipedia and just type in Red Simpson and then read Wikipedia, his story on Wikipedia, the man put out tons of great songs, especially some of the best trucker songs ever, and I recommend you guys download some of these trucker songs red simpson and uh, quite a few others had put out. Um, in fact, I have a list here of some of the best country songs and these are these are country songs, of course, but they're they're songs that that are basically trucking songs, and you, you got Red Savine, Teddy Bear, which is my number one. You got Six Days on the Road by Dave Dudley Girls on the Billboard, one of my favorites Del Reeves Passing Zone Blues by Coleman Wilson, Truck Driving Son of a Gun by Dave Dudley Convoy, which was used in a movie. Let's see we got. I guess I read all of them. I guess I doubled them up so they're on here twice. Oh, they're shorts. I put shorts on there so I can play the shorts back on the podcast here. But Facebook doesn't like that, or not Facebook? But well, maybe Facebook too. I don't post on Facebook anyway as far as the podcast goes, except a link to the podcast. But Buzzsprout doesn't block it and neither does that other company Rumble, they don't block it, and neither does that other company Rumble, they don't block it either.
Speaker 2:If you play just a small tidbit, you're not creating. You know it says when you're doing a story, you're allowed to play a little bit of a video clip or an audio clip to show people what you're doing. But YouTube takes it. You know 100%. You know they just start blocking things. I think everything YouTube does is by algorithms. I don't even know if they have employees anymore. They're that stupid. And I only play video clips of me driving down the road when I actually do, you know, post my podcast on YouTube. So I don't really care much about them.
Speaker 2:I recommend if you want to listen to my podcast, the best place to go is Buzzsprout, and the second best place would be to click on the link on Buzzsprout down below the podcast. And the second best place would be to click on the link on Buzzsprout down below the podcast. It'll take you to Rumble and then I do have a Facebook page which you guys can also like the Facebook page. You'll get updates and posts for me and stuff like that. So really, really cool.
Speaker 2:But the one thing I want to get to you guys real quickly before I cut off here is I want to let you know if we don't start getting along, if we don't start acting like we are the biggest industry in the world because we are and we don't start getting along, we don't start doing things to better ourselves, how can we expect anybody else to better the industry? How can we look forward and go to DOT or anybody FMCSA and say, hey, look, this is what we need done. We're not asking you, we're telling you. This is our livelihood. We know you have regulations and that's fine for safety, but as far as the rest of it, stay the hell out of it, because it's none of your business. We're truck drivers, this is what we want done and this is what we're going to get done. And if every let's say even 80% of us just stuck together and said screw you, and we started a campaign against the federal government, you don't think they would listen. You don't think they would make them changes so fast. It'd make your head spin. You're wrong if you don't think they won't. Because they have to With that many people. They have to.
Speaker 2:And you know why they're bringing in illegal immigrants. A lot of people say it's for voting. Well, it ain't strictly for voting. They're bringing in illegal immigrants to take over the big industries, like trucking too, because here's what they want to do. They want to put them all on the road so they can work for peanuts and then boot the rest of us to the curb when we make demands, because they know damn well we need to make regular money, because we're not going to stick 10 to 15 families in the same house.
Speaker 2:You know what I'm saying and that's just a fact. Jack. And if you guys don't like the truth, there ain't nothing I can do about that. Just don't listen to my podcast. But I do know that most of you out there have a brain and most of you most of you out there understand what I'm saying. So let's collectively get together and let's start making some legitimate demands to dot and fmcsa and let's get the truck in this industry back where it belongs. Okay, all right, you guys. Thank you very much. Thank you very much for listening, as always. God bless, Be safe, Keep it between the lines. Driver.
